Part of the series of 'Monster Dash' themed races organized by Team Ortho that now take place around the country after getting their start in Minnesota, the all-new Fort Worth Monster Dash Half Marathon also features a 10K and a 5K, all of which are set to follow out-and-back routes that start and finish in Fort Worth's LaGrave Field, along the banks of the Trinity River.Runners are set to start the race on Cedar Elm Road inside the park, and from there they'll run along the park roads for the first mile or so of the course. Just after passing the first mile marker, they make the turn onto the Fort Worth Branch Trail, a system of more than 40 miles of walking, running and biking trails that wind through the city and along the river that link residential neighborhoods with shopping districts and more than 20 local parks. Thanks to the trails' mostly fast and flat terrain - and most of the rest of the race unfolds along these trails, taking runners along the banks of the Clear Fork of the Trinity for much of the race - the course is mostly fast and flat.
Monster Dash is an annual 5/10K hosted by the Junior League of Longview. The proceeds raised by the family-friendly race support our operational expenses so that 100% of the money donated to the League goes right back into the community through our programs and grants. 2017 Monster Dash - 10K Race Results. Still, there are some rolling hills and a gradual incline in the second half of the half marathon, but nothing dramatic - the course reaches a low of about 512 feet above sea level, and a peak elevation of just over 570 feet.Since it's run right before Halloween, it's 'dress-up' time - there's a costume contest for the best costume each for adult men and women, best couple costume, best group costume, and best costume for boys and girls, ages 12 and under. Just make sure it's something you can run in, because you'll be wearing it for 13.1 miles!Runners will finish the race back where they started - at LaGrave Field inside the park, where they'll cross the finish line at home plate. All finishers age 21 and over will be handed a free beer too - just a little extra motivation to make it to the finish line.Race Weather & ClimateLocated just over 30 miles west of Dallas in East Texas - and part of the Dallas-Fort Worth 'DFW' metroplex - Fort Worth typically sees October temperatures that average between 55°F and 79°F, while rainfall totals average just over 4.1 inches, making October its second-wettest month of the year.On the day of the race (Oct. 27), the average low is 50°F and the average high is 75°F.Course MapStarting Time8:00 AM - half marathon, 10K8:30 AM - 5KFeesSee race websiteRegistrationTo reserve your spot in the late October 2013 running of the Fort Worth Monster Dash Half Marathon, 10K or 5K race,.Official Race WebsiteLeave a CommentEver run in Texas's annual Fort Worth Monster Dash Half Marathon?
